JR Vickery, warmly clad for his experimental work in the cold chambers of the Victoria Dock Cool Stores in 1924. Vickery won fame for extending the storage life of chilled beef and improving the quality of frozen beef during WWII. One of his tasks was to develop dehydrated meat for the Allied forces. In Britain it became known as Vickery mutton.
