The Creeping Banksia - Banksia repens - Western Australia

Top
On the dunes of the Barrens in south-west Australia, is this extraordinary banksia with underground stems. Its flowers push up through the sand and appear to be sitting there by themselves.

There are 50 species of banksia in Australia and, of these, more than 40 are known from Western Australia.
