Johne's Disease

Top
Johne's Disease is a disease of dairy cattle caused by a bacterium which is hard to detect until clinical signs appear. It causes losses due to emaciation and death. Diseased animals suffer decreased productivity, infertility and are more susceptible to other infections. The current method of obtaining samples for the diagnosis of Johne's disease is labour intensive and time consuming.
