Caterpillar of Danaus plexippus plexippus, Wanderer butterfly/Monarch butterfly. Family: Nymphalidae.

In Australia, this magnificent species is distributed along the eastern and south-eastern Australia and also in New Guinea and most of the islands of the south-west Pacific. This species has gradually extended its range in recent times across the Pacific from North America.
