The Heath-leaved banksia - Banksia ericifolia - La Perouse, NSW
TopThe genus Banksia was named in Banks' honour by Linnaeus' son, who examined and described the specimens bought back from Botany Bay.
Banksias range from prostrate shrubs to medium-size trees, and belong to perhaps the best known plant family in Australia, the Protaeceae. The family is enormously diverse and reaches its greatest development in Australia.
