The CSIRO GPU cluster during installation at the data centre.
The GPU cluster contains 254 Quad core CPUs and 64 NVIDIA Tesla S1070s that allow the computer to multi-task using parallel processing to speed up performance.

CPUs and GPUs are linked together in the cluster. The CPU handles the sequential part of the application and sends the computationally-intensive parts to the GPU
The GPU cluster will be able to speed up the reconstruction of 3D images, such as this wood microstructure created from many 2D images
