Fine-scale terrain detail of Australia released today

CSIRO Media Release – 15 December 2008
Ref 08/232
These images illustrate the stark difference between those taken using the old 'nine-second' (left), and new 'one-second' digital elevation models. The images were taken in the vicinity of 141E 27S, in the Strzelecki Desert on the border between South Australia and Queensland. A variety of arid landforms are represented including linear dunes, lakes and upland drainage networks.
