A Prickly Pear Site
TopA prickly pear site before treatment with Cactoblastis cactorum. Commonwealth Prickly Pear Board scientists introduced the larvae from the Argentinean moth Cactoblastis cactorum in 1926 and within ten years, the once-dense fields of common prickly pear lay rotting or had vanished completely.
