Massive outbreaks of blindness in Australian kangaroos occurred in 1994 through to 1996. The Wallal virus was shown to be responsible for this syndrome. This transmission electron micrograph shows a cell infected with Wallal virus. The inclusion body (gray area) contains many viral particles.
