Cell Infected with Lyssavira

Top
In June 1996, a news virus was discovered in Australia that later killed two humans. This virus was identified as a member of the lyssavirus group, and a close relative to classical rabies found overseas. This virus is called Australian bat lyssavirus. This image is an electron micrograph of an ultra-thin section of a cell infected with Australian bat lyssavirus.
