Daybreak at Pinyerinya Pool, on Neds Creek Station, approximately 200 km north of Wiluna in central Western Australia. This photo was taken during a project involving CSIRO Exploration & Mining and Placer Dome Asia Pacific. The project is developing groundwater geochemistry as a tool in the exploration for gold mineralisation. 'Seeing' through regolith such as the red-brown hardpan in the foreground is a major goal of the research. Working in remote areas and camping out in the scrub are some of the fun parts of the job!
