1. Search
You can search for an asset in various ways. If you know the filename of the asset, you can enter this into the search field. You can also enter keywords that describe an asset here. You can also use the dropdown menus to search by Category, or the division list to search by division (only available if you are a registered CSIRO user).

2. Select
Once you have found an asset, you can click it to see a larger view, and read information about this asset. Select the licence that applies to your usage, and then select the size of the asset you would like to purchase. You can now add the asset to either the lightbox for storage, or your shopping cart for processing.

3. Order
When the assets you wish to order have been selected, please click on the process/purchase asset button on the order page to see the final order details. You need to fill in your payment details, if required, in the fields provided. Next, please read the licensing agreement. If you agree with the terms and agreements set by scienceimage for usage of the assets, click on the ‘I accept’ button.

4. Download
Your asset order has now been processed. To download to your computer, click on the download icon (right click for PC users) of the asset to be downloaded. Go to “save target as” or the equivalent command in your drop down table, and save the asset to your computer.

scienceimage understands that your time is valuable, and that you have more urgent things to do than go searching through image libraries for that perfect picture.

That's why we offer you the opportunity to brief us on your image requirements and allow us to do the legwork for you. Our experienced photo researchers will email through a list of images that meet your requirements or, if you prefer, a set of low resolution scans. It's all part of the scienceimage service, so there's no research fee incurred!

Frequently Asked Questions

I have registered and received my unlock code, but when I try to sign in I am told there is no record of my registration. What do I do now?

Check the length of your login and password. scienceimage only accepts login and password codes of at least 6 characters.

I have forgotten my login/ password/ unlock code. How do I find out what it is?

I am unable to download the image I have requested. There is no download icon to right click on. How do I get my image from scienceimage?

You may not have been assigned authorization to download under the licence you have chosen. Check that the licence you have purchased the image under is the correct one for your usage. If you are still having problems downloading your image contact our help desk at (03) 9662 7591 or publishing.photos@csiro.au.

I can’t find the image I need on scienceimage. Is there another way to gain access to an image that suits my needs?

Yes. scienceimage provides free photo research for when you just don’t have the time to search through our site, or if you have already looked through the scienceimage collection and still can’t find the image you want. Just email or phone in a description of the image you need, and what size you need it supplied at, and our photo researchers will do the rest for you. Sometimes it is possible to source images that are not already available on scienceimage, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re after a particularly hard to find image.
